The Star and I - Poem

The Star and I

I saw a star shine in the sky,
Its glowing red, it caught my eye.
The colour strange, I wondered why
A crimson tinge would hail it nigh.
It bade me ponder, by and by:
Was it just born, or soon to die?
A mystery, it sails up high -
A lonely sparkle on the fly.
One in billions, I scarce can try
To count the stars that light the sky.
But this one spark, it drew my eye -
Its bleeding colour made me cry.
Its crimson scarlet like a dye,
It longs to stain the world gone by -
And on its own permeate the sky,
To bring a light to every eye.
So lonely like the star, am I -
A different colour on the fly.
With all I am, I want to try
Permeate my world below the sky.
I am just born, and soon to die,
Life - like the star - goes quickly by.
One in billions, the star and I -
Permeate the world? Well, we can try.

An excellent poem, and I like the picture, too. :)
ReplyDeleteThankyou, Jonathan! I'm glad you like it. :)
ReplyDeleteVery lovely poem, Bushy! It must have been hard to write every line rhyming like that. :) Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThankyou, Gracie dear! It was difficult to use words that I hadn't already used, but I gave up and used them anyway. :) I'm glad you enjoyed it. :D
